Engaging in a dual conversation can sometimes be dull. It simply provides the audience with all the information they need. However, a phone conversation adds a layer of intrigue and subtlety to acting. With only one participant providing feedback, the audience is left to imagine. They must guess what the other person on the phone is saying.
This creates a more engaging and interactive experience. Viewers are encouraged to think about the reactions of the person on the other end of the line through the dialogue they are privy to. It’s a great way to keep the audience fully present in the moment.
