In the construction industry where safety is paramount, innovative training can make all the difference. Enter virtual reality (VR)—a transformative tool that bridges the gap between theory and practice.
As the lead of a dedicated 3D digital team, I helped created a VR experience designed specifically for construction workers. Users are immersed in a 3D construction site where they must identify hazards and implement safety measures. Developing this game required a collaborative effort across multiple disciplines, from 3D modeling to programming. One of our biggest challenges was ensuring that the virtual environment accurately reflected real-world scenarios. By simulating real-life situations, users gain hands-on experience that is often missing in classroom settings. This not only boosts confidence but also equips workers with the skills needed to recognize and respond to hazards effectively.
